Au Revoir.

hey readers at school.
due to the barrage of update requests, i shall now blog what is probably going to be my last post for this whole year.

my commitments to the band and school simply does not allow time for blogging, sad to say.
so, i'm scraping off the student blogger aspect of my life as of now.
but dont worry, its not permanent. i hope. (i know you do too. haha.)

i'm planning to devote all my time and energy to the band and school.
these are my targets to achieve by the end of this year:

1. give 110% to the band.
i realise that i have only done that on several occasions, and now i want to make it frequent in the wake of the SYF Best Display Band Competition. and for indoor season also of course...

2. get 11 points and below for finals.
a big task. but the impossible is nothing with God on my side.

3. pull band standard up for indoor.
with the sec 4s gone after 1st july and also having won the Gold With Honours title for april, i'm sure that sec 3s batch '06 want to carry on the GWH lineage and i want a major part in it. so, hope i get a place on the committee. =)

these are my 3 targets for the end of this year, it is a mighty big task for someone average like me. but i'm sure with perserverance, i can pull it off and come out of it alive.

oh yeah, a little concert review for Hai Sing symphonic band.
i went for that concert thanks to fang lynn who bought my ticket without me even knowing it.
so, i had to rush to victoria concert hall all sweaty after band.
anyway, we were late. so they didnt let us in until the third song started, which was Romanesque! cool eh?
fang lynn then just HAD to pick seats beside this guy with a black trucker cap.
seriously, this guy was no brawns and no brains. a lethal combination.
anyway, the band was ok. but not fantastic. (sorry cheryl!)
they played John Williams in concert. and i must comment on their Imperial March.
the trombones lacked power and punch and one of them was sticking out thanks to being out of tune. a deadly mistake.
but one redeeming fact was that the band sounded quite balanced thanks to their tubas.
then the ensemble group came out!
they. were. terrific. superb!
they had so much passion for the songs they played and the idiot next to me was busy making fun of them. frankly, i was quite pissed.
not being able to appreciate good music was one thing. but mocking the superb players? now, that was way out of line if you ask me. i bet he couldnt even play the recorder properly, what more the clarinet.
like, hello? you come to a concert to listen to good music. not to critisise how people express themselves on stage, so shut up.
then, they played southwinds which sounded remarkly similar to... some song i forgot.
their rock and roll song was also quite good. thumbs up for that! and the trumpets were obviously very well rehearsed! =D
did i fail to mention that their darling section leader is none other than the great cheryl koh yan lin? hahahahaha!
alright man cheryl!

ok, so this pretty much sums up my last post for the year.
so, bye bye! zai jian! and au revoir, till school reopens! =]
